Friday Wrap: Things That Made Me Laugh

When given a choice between a funny show or drama, I’m going funny every time. I love to laugh. And when I find myself taking life too seriously, a good dose of humor helps every time.

Here are a few things that made me giggle this week. >>

{ONE}  My Dog, Leo

Sometimes he does naughty things that make me want to cry. (Remember the gel pen incident?) But he also makes me laugh…quite a bit.

Look at that sleepy boy. He fell asleep on Brandon’s leg and was snoring up a storm with his mouth wide open. Dogs can be total day makers.

{TWO} More Funny Sleeping Positions

OMG, these pictures are awesome. This guy took pictures of his wife on pretty much all of their road trips, and she is sound asleep – and in all kinds of funny positions. I’m assuming she’s a good sport about it. At least I would be. And this pretty much could be me. Something about the gentle hum of an engine…total lullaby!

Anyway, check out the gallery here.

{THREE} Febrezing

“YES!!! Wine and Febreze!” Haha! Now, that’s my kind of cleaning.

This also made me laugh because I saw our cleaning crew at work doing this one night. True story. One of the ladies was just walking up and down the halls spraying a trail of Febreze behind her. She was like, “Welp, that’s clean now.” Lol!!

{FOUR} Jimmy Fallon’s #FitnessFails

Every week Jimmy Fallon creates a hashtag and asks people to post something about that topic. This week was “FitnessFails.”

Oh, man. There some funny ones in the thread. Here’s a little sample for ya. >>

My personal fitness fail? When my kids were babies (3 under the age of 3), the only reason I went to the gym was so I could check the kids in the daycare and take a shower!!

Also related to the topic of fitness fails…

And this…

And this…yes I do…

{FIVE} Ellen’s Game of Games

Have you seen this new show? It’s laugh-out-loud funny. Like, I was cry-laughing watching it this week.

It’s a game show that consists of crazy challenges like Blindfolded Musical Chairs, Dizzy Dash, Bet Your Wife, and Scary Go Round. Contestants are pulled from the audience, and if they win their challenge, they move on to the final round and a chance to win $100,000. I honestly can’t do it justice by describing it. You must see for yourself.

***

That’s a wrap! Have an awesome weekend – and at least one moment where you laugh until you cry. 😉

XoXo,

Kate

High Fives on High Five Day

I’m smiling as I write this because of the fact that there’s such a thing as National High Five Day. I mean, what a day maker. And this year it looks like there’s a great cause attached to it.

The best way to celebrate this cool holiday is to throw some high fives in the air like you just don’t care. You can bet I’ll be doing this all day. And I’ll be using this for some inspiration.

In addition to celebrating friends and strangers, what about the things we depend on every day, but take for granted?

I thought it would be fun to share a few things around my house that make my life soooo much easier. And for that, I’m high-fiving all of them – personally. >

{ONE} The Keurig

Dear Keurig, I love your perfectly measured one-cup servings of any hot drink of my choice. You’re there for me every morning – without fail. Unless I forget to descale you, like that one time last month when you stopped working. That was on me, though.

I thank you for your consistency, for your prompt service, for keeping me from wasting coffee at the bottom of a large pot, and for pouring me a cup of tea immediately after serving Brandon his dark roast. You’re truly magical, and I high five you.

{TWO} Baking Soda

To the large yellow boxes of baking soda in my pantry, freezer, bathroom and laundry room, I know I’ve never told you this before, but you are my favorite multi-tasking genius. You keep me from having to stock up on a bunch of cleaning supplies that are full of chemicals.

I can pour you down the drain, around the shower, over nasty spills, and into smelly laundry bins – and you always do your job. I feel like your abilities are endless, and I’m still getting to know all that you can do. High five for being a true champion.

{THREE} Mini Purse Inside My Purse

Hello, little purse that carries all of my lady essentials and over-the-counter medicines that I don’t want the general public to see every time I open my large purse. I appreciate your demure nature…quietly and eternally riding shotgun next to my wallet.

You’re my go-to source for any of life’s unexpected situations: both medical and beauty related. There have been many times when I don’t know what I would have done without you. Hive five for being my best kept secret.

{FOUR} Rubber Bands

My dearest stretchy, round wonder, you’re on this list for the many practical ways you come to the rescue. Like the time my pants were too tight and I had to extend my waistline. Haha!

I even wrote a post about you several months ago. And even since then, I have found more creative ways to put you to work. Double high fives to you.

{FIVE} Gratitude Journal

Finally, I’d like to thank my gratitude journal.

While your pages are filled with lists of things I’m grateful for, I don’t know if you’re actually mentioned. I do see the irony. So today, I high five you for many reasons. For keeping me focused on the blessings in my life – even on the crappiest days. For keeping me accountable…when I see you on my nightstand, I’m reminded to stop and jot something down. And for helping me archive memories that I will one day look back on and smile, yet again.

Now for you, my friend and reader! I’m super excited you’re here and am sending you virtual high fives. I also wish you a beautiful day.

Blessings,

-Kate

Feeling Thankful for Humor

I’d like to introduce a touch of humor to the blog today. Sometimes when I’ve read too many negative comments on my Facebook feed, or watched a dark show that has left me feeling scared, sad, or downright icky, I try to shake it off by either looking at pictures of cute animals on Pinterest, like this one >>

{via} Aww, hello sweet bun.

Or I’ll find something that makes me laugh. {Usually involving episodes of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.}

Today feels like a good day to lighten things up. So I’ve pulled together ten things that have made me laugh recently. Hopefully it will lighten or even brighten your day just a bit, as well.

{ONE}

That face!! Our dog would try to play it off, too, like “Wow, that’s weird. Is it time for dinner, yet?”

{TWO}

The fact that I’m so bad at math, I had to think about this shirt.

{THREE}

Remember The Office!! That show was so funny. Mostly because of Michael Scott.

{FOUR}

People who are hangry = funny.

{FIVE}

That’s right. Sometimes we just need a donut already.

{SIX}

This would be me at any protest rally.

{SEVEN}

Yasssss! I could easily see this happening. Way too easily.

{EIGHT}

This made me spit my coffee when I read it. So awesome. and funny. Adding it to my Christmas list now.

{NINE}

…because Cark is such a common name.

{TEN}

We’ve all had moments like this, haven’t we?!

Hopefully this list brought a little smile to your face. If not, try this or this, care of my twin girls. 😉 Have an awesome day.

Blessings,

Kate

Friday Wrap

Another week, another wrap! I have some exciting projects and fun finds to share. So let’s get to it. Shall we?

{ONE} Free NatureBox

NatureBox

Thanks to NatureBox, I have three complimentary (and ridiculously yummy) snack boxes available to giveaway. The first three people to comment with “I want some snacks!” will receive a FREE box of delicious, healthy treats. You get to choose 5 of your favorite snacks from the entire Snack Catalog. (Offer expires 4/23. Shipping fees apply.) Here’s to happy snacking!!

{TWO} Personalized Umbrellas

Umbrellas

This was a project I worked on last weekend. The girls were all set with rain boots, but I discovered they needed new umbrellas. So…I looked no further than Walmart and found these clear umbrellas lined with darling flowers. I personalized them with Sharpie paint pens. Didn’t they turn out pretty cute? You should totally try one.

{THREE} Handwritten Letters

handwritten letter

This is a little thank you card I made for my MIL. I folded a piece of double-sided scrapbook paper, added a fancy sticker to personalize the card, then used an edging punch on the top flap.

April is National Letter Writing Month (among other things, I’m sure). I’ve latched onto this one because I love letters. Heartfelt notes of thanks, celebration, humor, or empathy can be some of the most treasured gifts. Letter writing is becoming a bit of a lost art – especially as more people are turning to emails, texts and posts. So why not take a moment to write a good old-fashioned letter to one of your long-distance friends? It will make him or her feel super special, and this is the perfect month to do it.

{FOUR} theSkimm

theskimmlogoI just started receiving theSkimm this week, which is considered to be “the daily newsletter that gives you everything you need to start your day.” I’m here to say that it’s pretty legit. It gets you up to speed on the news and what people are talking about in a single email. Sign up and see what I mean!

{FIVE} The 610 Stompers

I’m ending on a humorous note, because you know how much I love to laugh. Have you seen the 610 Stompers?! Holy hilariousness. Garden & Gun magazine recently featured them in a story about why they love the South. As described in the article, “This is an all-male amateur marching dance troupe of more than a hundred ordinary men clad in matching white headbands, red satin jackets, knee-high tube socks, and spray-painted gold sneakers.” You have to checkout some of their sweet moves. It will make your day. Maybe week.

That’s an official wrap. I promised to share some spring cleaning tips this week, and I won’t disappoint.

Check back tomorrow for five of my favorite cleaning hacks.

Until then, be sure to visit the beautiful and amazing blogs through Five on Friday with April, DarciChristina, and Natasha.

Cheers, my dears!

April Fools’ Fun

balloon prank

Happy April Fools’ Day! Who doesn’t love a good office prank like this one?

 If you love practical jokes and a good harmless hoax, today is your day to celebrate!

I definitely get a kick out of April Fools’ and remain 100% leery of any new products or announcements made on this day. Mostly because I’m so gullible. Case in point, my brother once told me the bottom of the swimming pool smelled like strawberry bubblegum. I only realized the prank once I sniffed a gallon of water up my nose. #notcool #shouldhaveknownbetter

In the spirit of the day, I’ve been keeping my eye out for some of the funniest and most clever pranks, and this is my list of faves so far:

Darby Smart

I received an email from Darby Smart, the mail-order DIY company, this morning announcing the new do-it-furself trend that has your furry friends crafting right alongside you. Projects such as kitty knitting and puppy paw painting are all featured on their site (today only, I’m sure). The pictures are hilarious.

Cat-Stitchin

Cat-stichin‘ is the next big trend in prafting.

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

Last year on this day, Crystal Bridges announced a piranha infestation within one of the ponds on the property. It was a joke well played and showed a lighter side of the museum. So I was curious what they’d be up to this year, and I found this announcement on Facebook: a new slip-n-slide! The museum claims the installation of a slip-n-slide will elevate the excitement of the museum, while following a growing trend. Am I the only one who wishes this was kinda real?

T-Mobile

In national news, T-Mobile announced a new phone plan. They are letting customers add their beloved family pets to their phone line for just $5 a month. How great is that? Meow.

Pets can have phones, too, thanks to T-Mobile

 Google

Google is notorious for their April Fools’ pranks, and today they actually have two good ones. The first one is pretty simple. If you type com.google into your browser, everything on Google is backwards!

You can also play Pac Man with your neighborhood on Google Maps. This one is less prank and a lot more play.

What good jokes did you witness (or pull on someone) today? Do tell!!
