Hello. It’s me.

Hi, my sweet friends! I know I’ve been a little quiet on the blog lately, but I’m still alive and kickin’. Pinkie promise.

I ended up taking some quiet time last month to get centered, focused and fired up about the coming year. It felt so good to soak in the new year like a nice hot bath sprinkled with Epsom salts and lavender oil. Seriously. Now I’m refreshed and ready to rock the blog. Woot! Woot!

I have tons of great ideas and projects I can’t wait to share, so let’s get this party back on track.

Blogged while listening to Adele’s “Send My Love” on repeat.

Instead of sharing my usual wrap of the week, this is going to be a look ahead. It’s because there are so many exciting and meaningful things happening. So shall we?

It’s no accident that was typed in all caps – as if I was screaming with joy. I’m over-the-moon excited about starting a book club. Tonight is the inaugural meeting at my house. It’s actually funny how it all started. My friend Ally suggested (over a few mojitos) that we should start a book club. Then she cleverly nominated me to plan it. The thing is, I’ve been wanting to start a book club for so long. This was just the nudge I needed to get this going.

We selected “Yes, Please” by Amy Poehler to get things off to a fun and easy-read start. I plan to whip up some of my mom’s enchilada casserole, and my friends are bringing the sides. I’m also making my SIL’s delicious sangria. For dessert, I’m attempting crockpot fondue. I’ll share pics and recipes next week, assuming all goes well. Who knows how in-depth we’ll discuss the book. I’m just glad this is happening and that no matter what, I have an evening with good friends and food ahead of me.

{TWO} Happy Bearthday!

This is the tee I ordered for the party. The girls actually call me this! Lol!

This is the tee I ordered for the party. My girls actually call me this! Lol!

If you’ve seen me pinning bears and party ideas on Pinterest, this is why: my twinsies are turning 10 this weekend!

We’re having a bear-themed party because my girls are still obsessed with their bear besties. AND, my dad recently taught them the song about the Teddy Bear Picnic. So all signs pointed to an all-out bearthday.

The theme definitely isn’t as easy as an off-the-shelf Hawaiian luau or Disney character party. (Party stores are busting at the aisles with these kinds of decorations – and not much else.) I had to get crafty with the color scheme and other ideas. Pinterest saved the day (again), and I think the girls and I have pulled together quite the shin dig. I can’t wait to show you pictures. I’ll have a full post on Monday!!

{THREE} The Big Game Kickoff

Even if you don’t follow sports, it’s hard to miss the game of all games – The Super Bowl. There’s the fattening food, the funny commercials, the national anthem sung by Lady Gaga, the halftime performances with Coldplay and Beyonce, and oh yeah, a football game!

This year the Carolina Panthers take on the Denver Broncos. Since I don’t have an allegiance to either team, I’ll be the one wearing an orange shirt with blue pants (that have an elastic waistband for all of the fiesta and buffalo dip I plan to devour). We’ll be heading to a friend’s house for all of the festivities. Where will your watch party take place?

{FOUR} Wear Red for Women

Today is the first Friday of February, which means it’s National Wear Red Day to help spread awareness about heart health for women.

Can you believe heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. That’s approximately one woman every minute!? That completely shocks me. Everyone is encouraged to wear red today as a symbol of their support. So let’s get on this, girls!

And be sure you’re up-to-date on your wellness visits. Know your numbers in terms of cholesterol, body mass index, and blood pressure. A lot of people care about you – and we want you to stay healthy. That’s my PSA for the day 😉

{FIVE} Rev Up for Random Acts of Kindness

Speaking of national days to honor things, Random Acts of Kindness week is coming up. I absolutely love this kind of thing. Remember the time I spent my entire birthday spreading kindness? When I was searching for some ideas, I came across this national event. The official site is full of inspiring stories and ideas to spread kindness not only from Feb. 14-20, but also throughout the year. I’m planning some fun posts around this “holiday” so be sure to come back for ideas in the coming days.

Have a great weekend and here’s to kicking off a fabulous February together!

  1. YAY for starting a book club! I’m in two and they are always the highlight of my week! I love that your twins call you Mama Bear! My sorority always did RAOK throughout the semester so I still love surprising people with bakes goods and notes throughout the year. Have a great weekend! Jess at Just Jess
