Friday Wrap

Um, brrr! We’ve had quite a cold week, but I’m happy to report that hasn’t stopped us in our tracks. We’ve managed to have a little fun, work on a few projects and make plans for the weekend. Woot, woot! Here’s the rundown of our top five faves of the week.

{ONE} Snow Day Fun

Snow Day

This is Clara holding our bun-bun named Rosie, who’s pretty much in heaven in this picture. #snugglebunny

It was a rare occurrence, but we had two snow days this week. I think we’re in store for more, too! (insert emoji with big eyes) There wasn’t quite enough to build a snowman, but we still played outside for a bit. We mostly snuggled indoors with our sweet Rosie and caught up on some good books and movies. I’m not complaining one bit.

{TWO} Hot Drink Station

Drink station

Here’s my ultimate hot drink station >> Clockwise from top: Fun markers to label our to-go cups, which are next in line; a jar of marshmallows; an assortment of delicious K-cup drinks; tea strainer and spoon; sweet add-ins  (Truvia and honey); and my favorite loose-leaf teas

Butter dish

Here’s a closeup of the dish I used for my tea strainer and stirrer (aka spoon). I repurposed a cute little butter dish that was just sitting in my cabinet.

Hot chocolate or tea always goes hand-in-hand with cold weather. I organized a little drink station on our kitchen counter this week, which is something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile now. The kids love the marshmallow jar best. Go figure.

{THREE} DIY Quote Board

DIY quote boardHere’s another fun project I worked on this week. I call it a quote board. All I did was frame a piece of pretty paper and use a dry erase marker to write a message. Can you believe how simple this is? I think I’ll surprise my family with new quotes and love notes every now and then.

{FOUR} Wedding Paper Divas

Wedding paper divas

This is a little peek at the save the dates. There are so many designs to choose from on Wedding Paper Divas, and plenty of ways to personalize. I could do an infomercial for them. Seriously.

I’m helping my niece, Emma, and her adorable fiancé, Paul, with their wedding invitations and all things paper – like save the dates, table cards, programs, etc. I’m so honored they’re trusting me with this responsibility, and I want this to go as perfectly as possible. Because of that, I’m turning to Wedding Paper Divas, which has some of the most beautiful designs. I highly recommend this site if you or anyone you know are in planning mode for a wedding. I give it four stars (out of four, that is).

{FIVE} The Oscars!

oscars 2015Who else is crazy-excited about the Oscars this weekend?! Even though I haven’t seen all (okay, maybe most) of the movies, yet, because we’re still in the phase of watching animated movies with the kids, I love the glamour and glory that goes with the show. The red carpet entrance is my favorite part.

Dove and Twitter Oscar campaign

See the video before it airs on Sunday!

I heard something different is going to happen during the red carpet extravaganza this year. Dove is launching a campaign aimed at sending positive messages through Twitter. Get a sneak peek of the commercial above!

The campaign is based on a staggering statistic that women posted more than 5 million negative Tweets about their bodies in the last year alone.

That just broke my heart. So when Twitter is at its cattiest, as stars show off their designer outfits, Dove is going to turn negative tweets into a beautiful conversation about women. Follow #SpeakBeautiful on Twitter during the show to see what happens!!

That’s about it for now. I hope you have a brilliant weekend. Stay extra-toasty warm if you continue to have freezing weather like us.
